( Ἀσσαπφιώθ ), given in 1 Esdras 5:33, as the first named of the family heads of the "sons of Solomon's servants" that returned from Babylon; apparently meaning the SOPHERETH (See Sophereth) (q.v.) of the genuine text ( Ezra 2:55), where the Hebrews has the article, הִסֹּפֶרֶת , Has-Sophereth.
