Aurifex [1]
(or Aurificus, Ital. Buonigli), Nicholas an Italian theologian, was born at Sienna in 1529. He belonged to the order of Carmelites and distinguished himself as a preacher. In 1565 he taught theology in Florence, and' in 1578 he became dean: of the faculty, then provincial for all Tuscany. He died in 1601. Aurifex wrote, among other works,. De Dignitate Vites et Mloribus Clericorum (Venice, 1568; Cologne, 1610): — Meditazion di Diversi, Dottori di S. Chiesa, Tradotte e Corrette (Venice, 1583,1596) :-Somma Aurfica (ibid. 1003).
