King of Macedonia, and patron of art and literature, with whom Euripides found refuge in his exile, d . 400 B.C.; a general of Mithridates, conquered by Sulla twice over; also the Ethnarch of Judea, son of Herod, deposed by Augustus, died at Vienne.
