ā̇ - ı̄´rus , âr´us ( Ἰαίρος , Iaı́ros ): the King James Version, one of the heads of a family of temple servants (1 Esdras 5:31 the Revised Version (British and American) Jairus ), which returned from Babylon with Zerubbabel; in the Old Testament called Reaiah ( Ezra 2:47;  Nehemiah 7:50 ), and classed among the Nethinim .

( Ι᾿Άιρος , comp. Jairus of the N.T.), one of the temple-servants whose "sons" are said to have returned from the captivity ( 1 Esdras 5:31); probably a corruption for Gahar (q.v.) of the genuine text ( Ezra 2:47).
