Johann Georg Albinus [1]

a Lutheran theologian of Germany, was born at Nessa, March 6, 1624. He studied at Leipsic; was in 1653 appointed rector of the cathedral school at Naumburg; in 1657 he received the pastorate of St. Othmar; .and died there May 25, 1679. Albinus composed a number of hymns, which are still used in Germany. One of these, Straf mich nicht in deinem Zorn, has been translated into English by Jacobi in his Psalmodia Germanica, i, 63: "Lord, withdraw the dreadful storm." See Koch, Gesch. d. deutsch.
