He was from 1818 to 1825 pastor of the Protestants of Lisbon; travelled in Portugal and Spain, and went to Naples in 1827 as chaplain of the Prussian ambassador; and returned to Berlin in 1835, in order to assume the pastoral charge of the parish of St. Paul.
