Tikvah [1]

(Heb. Tikvah', תַּקְוָה , a cord [as in Joshua 2:18; Joshua 2:21], or hope [as often]), the name of two Israelites.

1. (Sept. θεκκουέ v.r. θεκουάν; Vulg. Thecua.) The son of Harhas and father of Shallum, which last was the husband of the prophetess Huldah ( 2 Kings 22:14). B.C. ante 632. He is elsewhere ( 2 Chronicles 34:22) called TIKVATH (See Tikvath) (q.v.).

2. (Sept. θεκουέ v.r. θέκωέ; Vulg. Thecue.) The father of Jahaziah, which latter was one of the "rulers" appointed to carry out the divorce of the Gentile wives after the Captivity ( Ezra 10:15). B.C. 458.
