(Heb. Shammoth', שִׁמּוֹת, desolation; Sept. Σαμαώθ, v.r. Σαμώθ, Σαμμαώθ ), the name of a person entitled "the Harorite," one of David's guard (1 Chronicles 11:27); apparently the same with "Shammah the Harodite" (2 Samuel 23:25), and with "Shamhuth" (1 Chronicles 27:8).
