NERIAH. The father of Baruch ( Jeremiah 32:12; Jeremiah 32:16; Jeremiah 36:4; Jeremiah 36:8; Jeremiah 36:32; Jeremiah 43:3; Jeremiah 43:6; Jeremiah 45:1; Jeremiah 51:59 ). In Bar 1:1 the Greek form of the name, Nerias, is retained.

Νηρί in Jeremiah 43:3]; Vulg: Nerias, but Neri in Jeremiah 22:12), the son of Maaseiah, and father of Seraiah (Jeremiah 51:59) and Baruch (Jeremiah 32:12; Jeremiah 32:16; Jeremiah 36:4; Jeremiah 36:8; Jeremiah 36:14; Jeremiah 36:32; Jeremiah 43:3; Jeremiah 43:6; Jeremiah 45:1). He appears to be the same with NERI (See Neri) (q.v.) in our Lord's maternal ancestry (Luke 3:27-28; see Strong's Harmony and Expos. of the Gospels, page 17). B.C. cir. 620.

nḗ - rı̄´a ( נריּה , nērı̄yāh , "whose lamp is Yah"): The father of Seraiah and of Baruch, Jeremiah's friend and secretary ( Jeremiah 32:12 , Jeremiah 32:16; Jeremiah 36:4 , Jeremiah 36:8 , Jeremiah 36:32; Jeremiah 43:3 ). In Baruch 1:1 the Greek form of the name, Νηρ (ρ Ο2 επ )ίας , Nēr ( e ) ı́as , is given, and this shortened, Neri, occurs in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.
