GIBEA . A grandson of Caleb ( 1 Chronicles 2:49 ). The list of the descendants of Judah through Caleb given in 1 Chronicles 2:42 ff. is geographical rather than genealogical, and comprises all the towns lying in the Negeb of Judah to the S. of Hebron. Gibea is probably only a variation in spelling of the more common Gibeah . See Gibeah, 1 .

(Heb. Giba', גִּבִַ א, hill; Sept. Γαιβαά v.r. Γαιβάλ ), a place built or occupied in connection with Macbenah by Sheva, son of Caleb's concubine Maachah (1 Chronicles 2:49); hence probably the same with GIBEAH (q.v.) of Judah (Joshua 15:57).
