He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge; ordained deacon in 1785, and priest the following year; became perpetual curate of Holme, Lancashire, in 1797; vicar of Whalley in 1809.; held for some time the vicarage of Heysham; became vicar of [[Blackburn]] in 1818, and remained there until his death, which occurred Dec. 18, 1821.
