Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature [2]

(Ε᾿θμά v.r. Νοομά,Vulg. Nobei), given (1 Esdras 9:35) as the name of the head of one of the families of Israelites, several of whose "sons" divorced their Gentile wives after the exile; apparently a corruption of NEBO (See Nebo) (q.v.) in the Hebrews list (Ezra 10:43).
