In 1405 he was made cardinal by pope [[Innocent]] VII, and was employed by the papal chair in several theological controversies. He was especially prominent at the [[Council]] of Pisa in 1409. a distinguished Roman Catholic prelate, according to some was an Englishman by birth, but according to others was born at Pisa in the first half of the 14th century.
