Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible [1]
Uknaz . In 1 Chronicles 4:15 AVm [Note: Authorized Version margin.] gives ‘Uknaz’ instead of ‘even Kenaz’ (AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ) or ‘and Kenaz’ (RV [Note: Revised Version.] ). In all probability something has dropped out of the text, which had read originally ‘the sons of Elah: … and Kenaz.’ This is favoured by the plural ‘sons.’
Smith's Bible Dictionary [2]
Uk'naz. In the margin of 1 Chronicles 4:16, the words "even Kenaz" in the text are rendered "Uk'naz", as the proper name.
Fausset's Bible Dictionary [3]
Rather, UKNAZ and "KENAZ" ( 1 Chronicles 4:15, margin). (See Kenaz .) Some name has been omitted before the "and."
International Standard Bible Encyclopedia [4]
uk´naz ( וּקנז , ūḳenaz , "and Kenaz," probably): Found in the King James Version margin of 1 Chronicles 4:15 for the King James Version "even Kenaz," the Revised Version (British and American) "and Kenaz," whereas the Septuagint omits "and." It is probable that some name has dropped out after Elah. Curtis suggests reading "and these are the sons of Kenaz," i.e. those mentioned in 1 Chronicles 4:13 f. See Kenaz .
