He entered [[Princeton]] Theological Seminary in 1837, and, after remaining one year, finished his theological studies in the Union Theological Seminary in 1840. He was ordained and installed-pastor of the Upper Ten-mile [[Creek]] and Mount Nebo churches, Pa., remaining such till 1843, when he resigned, and became a stated supply of the churches at [[Bethlehem]] and North Branch, Pa. He then became pastor of the [[Church]] at Tarentum, Pa., in 1844, and continued in this relation until 1853, a period of nine years, laboring with success and usefulness.
