a Presbyterian minister, was born at Jamaica, N.Y., in 1810. He entered Princeton Theological Seminary in 1837, and, after remaining one year, finished his theological studies in the Union Theological Seminary in 1840. He was ordained and installed-pastor of the Upper Ten-mile Creek and Mount Nebo churches, Pa., remaining such till 1843, when he resigned, and became a stated supply of the churches at Bethlehem and North Branch, Pa. He then became pastor of the Church at Tarentum, Pa., in 1844, and continued in this relation until 1853, a period of nine years, laboring with success and usefulness.
