Smith, Thomas (4),
a Congregational minister, was born in Litchfield, Me., Aug. 17, 1812. Converted at the age of twenty-one, he set out to prepare himself for the ministry, and, by his own exertions prepared for college, graduated at Bowdoin College in 1840, and at Bangor Theological Seminary in 1843.
