Charles Cast [1]
a minister of the Reformed Church, was born in Ettlingen, Germany, Feb. 22, 1815. He studied in the universities of Freiburg and Heidelberg, completing his theological course at Freiburg. He was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1845, having been called to Carlsruhe, the capital of Baden, where he attracted considerable attention as a pulpit, orator. He came to America in 1850, renounced Romanism, and, in 1852, was received by the Synod of the Reformed Church at Baltimore, Md. He labored successively in the East and West, and finally settled in Egg Harbor, N J., where he died Jan. 2, 1883.
