He was licensed to preach in 1773, and called to be minister at Urquhart and Logie-Wester in 1774; and had a new church built in 1795. He died Oct. 1,1812, aged sixty- three years. He was a man of saintly character, gentle, benign, but majestic in his simplicity, He was a successful minister, generous to the poor, and esteemed by all his parishioners. See [[Fasti]] Eccles.
