Audenaerd (Or Oudenaerde), Robert Van,
a Flemish painter and engraver, was born at Ghent in 1663, and died there. in 1743. He studied. first under Francis van Mierhop, and subsequently with John Cleef. When quite young he visited Rome, and studied with Carlo Maratti, under whose instruction he became a reputable historical painter.
