Father of Amasa by Abigail, David's sister ( 2 Samuel 17:25; 1 Chronicles 2:17). (See Amasa ; Abigail "An Ishmaelite" is the true reading; for why state that he was an "Israelite"? That he was an Ishmaelite would be something exceptional, and fitly mentioned in the genealogy.
