The Syriac version has Artak, a name which recalls that of Artachaeas ( Ἀρταχαίης ) , who is named by Herodotus (7. 22,117) as being in a high position in the Persian army under Xerxes, and a special favorite of that king (Simonis, Onom.; Smith's Dict.
