( Ἡ Βασκαμά , Josephus Βασκά ), a place in Gilead where Jonathan Maccabaeus was killed by Trypho, and from which his bones were afterward disinterred and conveyed to Modin by his brother Simon ( 1 Maccabees 13:23; Joseph. Ant. 13:6, 6). Schwarz supposes it to be the Talmudical Bashkar ( בִּשְׁכָּר ) or Basgar ( בִּסְגָּר ) "of Arabia" ( Palest. p. 236, 237).
