Forbade Forbid [1]
"to hinder, restrain, withhold, forbid" (akin to kolos, "docked, lopped, clipped"), is most usually translated "to forbid," often an inferior rendering to that of hindering or restraining, e.g., 1 Thessalonians 2:16; Luke 23:2; 2 Peter 2:16 , where the Rv has "stayed;" in Acts 10:47 "forbid."
