Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible [1]
Kelaiah . A Levite who had married a foreign wife ( Ezra 10:23 ), called in Esther 9:23 Esther 9:23 Colius . In Ezr. the gloss is added ‘which is Kelita ’ (in 1 Es. ‘who was called Calitas ’). Kelita appears in Nehemiah 8:7 as one of the Levites who assisted Ezra in expounding the Law (cf. 1Es 9:48 Calitas ), and his name occurs amongst the signatories to the covenant ( Nehemiah 10:10 ). It does not follow, however, that because Kelaiah was also called Kelita he is to be identified with this Kelita.
