MAHLI. In Exodus 6:18 , Num 3:20 , 1 Chronicles 24:25; 1 Chronicles 24:28 , it is the name of a son of Merari, Levi’s youngest son. In 1 Chronicles 23:23; 1 Chronicles 24:30 a son of Mushi, Mahli’s brother, bears the same name. Ezra 8:18 speaks of ‘a man of discretion (see Ish-sechel), of the sons of Mahli … and Sherebiah ,’ etc. 1Es 8:47 [ Mooli ] drops ‘and,’ thus identifying this son of Mahli with Sherebiah.
