[[Early]] in life he distinguished himself by his poetical talents, and devoted many years to literary pursuits. In 1753 he took holy orders, and soon became vicar of Olney, in Buckinghamshire. Some time afterwards he was appointed vicar of Sutton, in Lincolnshire, and in 1763 he was elected chaplain of Morden College, Kent, where he died, September 13, 1787.
