Gallus Cartier
Gallus Cartier [1]
a French Benedictine, was born at Porentruy, in Franco-Switzerland, April 8, 1693. In 1717 he took holy orders, and was for some time professor of philosophy and theology at the monastery of Ettenheim-M Ü nster, in the Breisgau, and at Gengenbach. He died April 17, 1777. He was one of the most learned Benedictines of the last century, and wrote, Tract. Theol. de S. Scriptura (1736): — Auctorilas et Infallibilitas Summor. Pontif. (1738): — Universal.
