Causey
Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible [1]
Causey . This Eng. word was used in the original edition of AV [Note: Authorized Version.] in 1 Chronicles 26:16; 1 Chronicles 26:18 , and in the margin of Proverbs 15:19 and Isaiah 7:3 . It is now found only in Proverbs 15:19 marg., being changed in modern editions in the other places into causeway . The Heb. word is literally ‘a raised way,’ and is used of a public road, but never of a street in a city. The word ‘causey’ is still used in Scotland for the raised footpath by the side of a road or street.
King James Dictionary [2]
