<p> a Protestant minister, was born at Trieste, May 7, 1830. He was a prominent member of the [[Church]] at Geneva, where he was the means of founding the [[Evangelical]] [[Society]] and of promoting the cause of the Young Men's [[Christian]] Association. He labored for the cause of the evangelical schools, not only iu Geneva, but also in [[Bohemia]] and Moravia, where he went for this special purpose. He also visited [[England]] and [[France]] to promote the kingdom of God, and during the winter of 1870 and 1871 he labored among the Protestant French prisoners in Germany. In fact, there was no branch of home mission work in which he was not engaged, and his sudden death, January 10, 1881, was a heavy loss to the Evangelical Church in Geneva. (B.P.) </p>
