<p> a Presbyterian minister, was born at Orange, N.J., in December 1795. He graduated from [[Princeton]] [[College]] in 1820, and studied two years in the theological seminary there; was ordained in 1831; became stated supply at Fair Forest, S.C., in 1832, at Salem, Virginia, in 1835, and in 1838 became pastor of the First Presbyterian [[Church]] in Memphis, Tenn., where he labored for six years with great acceptability. He afterwards preached in Newcastle, [[Kentucky]] (1844-47); Florence, [[Alabama]] (1848-50); Aberdeen, [[Mississippi]] (1851-54); Burlington, [[Tennessee]] (1855-58), and Fulton, Missouri, where he died, October 30, 1863.
