He executed some works in the [[Church]] of Sant' Antonio at [[Padua]] in 1653, and some very elegant pilasters, which are highly praised by Cicognara. In the chapel of the [[Dominican]] Church at Padua there is a statue of San Lorenzo Giustiniano by Matteo, which, being inferior to one of Sant' Antonio by Brunelli, placed by the side of it in 1667, is said to have caused the artist's death, owing to the serious way in which he took the matter to heart. </p>
