[[Second]] son of Uzziel, and chief of the [[Kohathite]] [[Levites]] at the [[Exode]] (Numbers in, 30; Exodus 6:22). B.C. 1657. He, with his elder brother, was directed by [[Moses]] to carry away the corpses of their sacrilegious cousins [[Nadab]] and [[Abihu]] (Leviticus 10:4). In these two last-cited passages the name is written contracted into ELZAPHAN SEE ELZAPHAN . — His family was known and represented in the days of king [[David]] (1 Chronicles 15:8), and took part in the revival of [[Hezekiah]] (2 Chronicles 29:13). </p> <p> 2.
