<p> <translit> a </translit> - <translit> hō´hı̄t </translit> ( <span> אחוחי </span> , <i> <translit> 'ăḥoḥı̄ </translit> </i> ): A patronymic employed in connection with the descendants of <a> AHOAH </a> (which see) such as Doda ( <span> 2 [[Samuel]] 23:9 </span> ) or [[Dodo]] ( <span> 1 [[Chronicles]] 11:12 </span> ), [[Ilai]] (29) or [[Zalmon]] ( <span> 2 Samuel 23:28 </span> ), and also Eleazar, son of Dodo ( <span> 1 Chronicles 11:12 </span> ). The family must have been fond of military affairs, for all the above were officers in [[David]] and Solomon's armies. </p>
