Ezra 7:14 and the Ἑπτὰ Τ Ων Περσ Ων Ἐπίσημοι of Ctesias (14), and the statement of Herodotus (3, 84) with regard to the seven noble Persians who slew Smerdis, that it was granted to them as a privilege to have access to the king's presence at all, times, without being sent for, except when he was with the women; and, that the king might only take a wife from one of these seven families.
