(n.) One of a certain religious sect, followers of Macedonius, Bishop of Constantinople, in the fourth century, who held that the Holy Ghost was a creature, like the angels, and a servant of the Father and the Son.

Cyclopedia of Biblical, Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature [3]

(Μακεδών ) occurs in the A.V. of the N.T. only in Acts 27:2. In the other cases (Acts 16:9; Acts 19:29; 2 Corinthians 9:2; 2 Corinthians 9:4) our translators render it "of Macedonia." The "Macedonians" are also mentioned in the Apocrypha (Esther 16:10, 14; 1 Maccabees 1:1; 2 Maccabees 8:20). (See Macedonia).
