Joseph Sumner [1]

a Congregational divine, was born at Pomfret, Conn., Jan. 19, 1740. He graduated at Yale College in 1759, was ordained pastor of the Church at Shrewsbury, Mass., June 23, 1762, and died Dec. 9, 1824. During a period of sixty-two years, he was never absent from the stated communion of his Church.
