Steward of King Elah's house in Tirzah. Elah, while drinking himself drunk in his house, was slain by the conspirator Zimri. A very different steward from Obadiah ( 1 Kings 18:3, compare 1 Corinthians 4:2).

ar´za ( ארצא , 'arcā' ): A steward of King Elah, in whose house at Tirzah Zimri murdered the king at a drinking debauch. The text is not quite clear, and Arza might have been a servant of Zimri ( 1 Kings 16:9 ).
