a German professor of history, was born Aug. 27, 1786, at Bettenhausen, near Meiningen. In 1812 he commenced his academical career at Konigsberg, where he (lied, Sept. 23, 1864. He wrote, Hildebrand als Papst Gregorius Ver undsein Zeitalter (2nd ed.
