a Protestant theologian of Germany, was born at Wittenberg, May 15, 1808. For a number of years he occupied the pulpit of Trinity Church at Berlin, and afterwards went to Greifswalde, where he died, Jan. 22, 1869, as superintendent, member of consistory, and doctor and professor of theology. In connection with Pelt and Rheinwald, he edited Homiliarium Patrist. Collectum, Adnott. Crit., Exeg., Historicisque Instructum (Berlin, 1829-32 [Germ. title, Homilet. Bibliothek, ibid.]). He published Neoplatonismus u. Christenthum, Untersuchungen fiber die Schriften des Pseudo-Dionysius Areopagita (ibid. 1835). See Winer, Handb. der theol. Lit. 1, 878, 890; Zuchold, Bibl.
