Shua [1]

the name of a Hebrew and a Hebrewess, which appears in different forms in the original.

1. (Heb. Shu' a, שׁוּעִ, wealth, or a cry for help, or an oath; Sept. Σαύα or Σαυά v.r. Σουέ .) A Canaanite of Adullam, whose daughter (hence named only as Bathshua in the original) was Judah's wife, and the mother of his first three children ( Genesis 38:2; Genesis 38:12 [in both passages the A.V. has incorrectly "Shuah"]; 1 Chronicles 1:32). B.C. ante 1895.

2. (Heb. Shua' , שׁוּעָא, id.; Sept. Σωλά .) Daughter of Heber, a grandson of Asher, whose three sons are likewise enumerated ( 1 Chronicles 7:32). B.C. post 1874.
