Gaal [1]

gā´al ( גּעל , ga‛al , "rejection," or "loathing"; according to Wellhausen, "beetle," HPN , 110): A man of whose antecedents nothing is known, except that his father's name was Ebed. He undertook to foment and lead a rebellion on the part of the inhabitants of Shechem against Abimelech, son of Gideon, and his rebellion failed (Jdg 9:26-45). See also Abimelech .
