(Heb. Yosheb'-bash-She'beth, ישֶׁב בִּשֶּׂבֶת Sitting In The Session, I.E. Council; Sept. Ι᾿Εβοσθέ ; Vulg. Sedens In Cathedra; Auth. Vers. "that sat in the seat"), the chief of David's three principal heroes ( 2 Samuel 23:8); called in the parallel passage ( 1 Chronicles 11:11) JASHOBEAM (See Jashobeam) (q.v.).
