Francisco Davila

Francisco Davila

a Spanish theologian, was born at Avila, of a noble family, and took the habit of the Dominicans. He followed, in 1596, his cousin, the cardinal Davila, to Rome, where Clement VIII appointed him to the Congregation of the Index. Davila distinguished himself in the dispute which arose at that time between the Dominicans and the Jesuits.
