a Lutheran hymn writer of Germany, was born January 13, 1792. He studied at Tubingen, was in 1820 deacon at Besighein, Wurtemberg, in 1824 professor at the theological seminary in. Schunthal, and died August 5,1835. Of his many hymns, one has been translated into English: Wie konnt' ich sein vergessen ("Oh, how could I forget Him!" by Winkworth, Lyra Germanica, 2:142).
