Isaac Jacquelot [1]

a French Protestant theologian, was born at Vassy Dec. 16, 1647. He became a minister in 1668, and was colleague of his father, the pastor of Vassy, until obliged to leave in consequence of the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. ‘ He resided first at Heidelberg, then (1686) at La Haye, where he became pastor of a French congregation. In consequence of some trouble he had with Jurieu, Benoit, and others, he accepted an offer of the king of Prussia, who had heard him preach, and had learned to esteem Jacquelot, and in 1702 he settled at Berlin as pastor of a French church. He died there Oct. 20, 1708.
