St. Ausonius [1]

first bishop of Angouleme, was a disciple of St. Martial of Limoges, and .may be called the apostle of Aquitaine. He lived in the time of the emperor Gallianus, when Chrocus, king of the Germans, made an irruption into Gaul and martyred many of the faithful, among whom was Ausonius. He is commemorated June 11.
