John Evans [1]

a Baptist minister, was born about 1767, at Usk, Monmouthshire. He was pastor of a congregation of General Baptists, Worship Street, London from 1792 to 1827, and died in the latter year, leaving a number of theological sermons and other works, for a list of which see Watt, Bibl. Brit., and the Gentleman's Magazine, XCVII, 1:369. He published, in 1797, An Attempt to Account for the Infidelity of the Late Mr. Gibbon.
