Giovanni Bettino Cignaroli [1]

an Italian painter, was born at Verona in 1706; studied under Santo Prunato at Venice, and afterwards under Antonio Balestra; and died in 1770 or 1772. At Pontremoli is an admirable picture by him of St. Francis Receiving the Stigmata; and there is a Flight into Egypt, in San Antonio, at Parma. See Spooner, Biog.
