Zip'por. (sparrow). Father of Balak, king of Moab. Numbers 22:2; Numbers 22:4; Numbers 22:10; Numbers 22:16; Numbers 23:18; Joshua 24:9; Judges 11:25. Whether he was the "former king of Moab" alluded to in Numbers 21:26, we are not told. (B.C. 1451).

ZIPPOR . Father of Balak ( Numbers 22:3-4; Numbers 22:10; Numbers 22:16; Numbers 23:18 , Joshua 24:9 , Judges 11:25 ). The name, which doubtless in this case and in that of Zipporah has a totemistic significance, means ‘sparrow.’

Sephor), father of Balak, king of Moab, who is always designated by this patronymic title (22, 2, 4, 10, 16; 23:18; Joshua 24:9 Judges 11:25). B.C. ante 1618.
