1 Chronicles 7:7; 1 Chronicles 7:12. IRI or IRIJAH. Son of Shelemiah, "captain of the ward"; met Jeremiah at the Jerusalem "gate of Benjamin," accused him of deserting to the Chaldees, and brought him to the princes (Jeremiah 37:13-14). The death of Hananiah Iri's grandfather, for false prophecy, was foretold by Jeremiah; the grandson now takes his revenge (Jeremiah 28:16).

I'RI also appears in the A.Vers. of the Apocrypha (1 Esdras 8:62) as tne name (Οὐρία v.r. Οὐρί , Vulg. Jorus) of the father of the priest Marmoth; evidently the URIAH (See Uriah) (q.v.) of Ezra 8:33.
